About de Vecht
The Vecht flows from Utrecht to Muiden, where it empties into the IJmeer. Over a distance of around 40 kilometres, the river winds its way through a varied landscape of villages, country estates and green banks.
In the 17th and 18th centuries, wealthy Amsterdammers settled along the Vecht, building their country houses here as summer residences. Many of these country estates are still visible today and define the character of the river.
It is precisely from the water that this combination of nature and history comes into its own.
Luxury boat with a skipper
This modern sloop has a remarkable history: it originally served as a lifeboat in Alaska. It has since been converted into a luxurious and comfortable sloop, ideal for groups wishing to explore the Vecht in peace and quiet.
The sloop is fully electric and therefore quiet, which fits in well with the character of the surroundings. On board, the skipper will, if desired, provide commentary on the Vecht region and the country estates along the route.
The boat operates all year round. In fine weather, the sloop is open and fitted with a sunshade. During the autumn and winter months, the sloop is covered and heated, ensuring a comfortable cruise even then.
