Corporate social responsibility

At Flora Batava, we dedicate ourselves every day to providing a welcoming and culinary experience in our hotel, restaurant, and meeting rooms. We do our work with attention to people, nature, and the environment. With the entire team, we strive for the most sustainable business operations possible and continuously try to reduce our negative impact on the environment.

In addition, we are happy to make a positive contribution to society, for example through intensive collaboration with the local community, student guidance, and sponsoring local cultural and sporting events.

The renovation from country estate to hotel

In 2019, the restoration and renovation of the country estate began. The estate had fallen into disrepair for many years. By giving the estate a new function as a hotel, we have given this cultural heritage a new future. Much attention has been paid to sustainable construction. In the national monument and the other buildings, all installations have been completely replaced, with sustainable alternatives chosen. All roofs have been fully restored and equipped with excellent insulation.

Reducing energy consumption

Solar panels and heat pumps have been installed. In addition, various measures have been applied against the waste of water and electricity. We have installed energy savers in the hotel rooms. We have made clear agreements with our staff, including about turning off devices and lighting, keeping doors and windows closed, and turning off air conditioners in unoccupied rooms. We consciously do not use terrace heaters, and in various places we have automatic lighting.

Conscious purchasing

In our purchasing for the hotel and the restaurant, we take the environment into account. We buy products from local suppliers and from the wholesaler. We limit the number of suppliers so that we cause as few transport movements as possible. We use glass water bottles, in collaboration with Made Blue. Each 500ml bottle provides 50 liters of clean drinking water in developing countries. We buy as few single-use packages as possible. Our shampoo and shower gel are therefore available in bulk in the rooms. We use organic cleaning products and make as little use of disposable packaging as possible.

Our working method in the kitchen is aimed at limiting food waste as much as possible.

Separating waste

We aim to separate and reduce our waste. The waste is separated into the streams glass, cardboard/paper, plastic, swill, garden waste, and residual waste.

Green key

a standard of excellence

Green Key is the international sustainability label for hotels. This label is awarded to companies that are committed to a sustainable business without compromising the quality for guests. Flora Batava’s objective is to receive the golden Green Key label within a foreseeable time.
