Originally, the Loosdrechtse Plassen was a peat area. The pools were created because peat was cut for dryed peat. Today, the Loosdrecht lakes are ideal for water sports and various activities.

The Loosdrechtse Plassen are a large water sports and nature reserve. The best way to enjoy the Loosdrechtse Plassen is on the water. And there are many possibilities for this. At Flora Batava you can rent a boat or a paddle board. Via the Vecht you can get to the Loosdrechtse Plassen. At the reception you can also inquire about other activities such as rowing, canoeing, sailing or water skiing.
BOAT & BIKE
If you sail from Flora Batava towards the Loosdrechtse Plassen, you will sail through the pulling holes of the Kievitsbuurt. On the water you will encounter water lilies, geese, birds and waving reed collars. It is also possible to make a 30 km bike ride around the Loosdrechtse plassen.
